◆ "Oni Kinbaku" is a luxurious hardcover book in a paper board slip case. 148 pages with a full range of kinbaku styles - understated traditional to conceptual modern. Signed and numbered limited edition of 500 pieces.
◆ "Wayou Kinbaku Miyabi" is a softcover book of 204 pages that focuses on traditional style kinbaku, seeking out the height of elegance in settings, kimono, techniques, ropes - everything! Also includes English language afterword revealing Kinoko san's inspirations.

New Tama Book ROSETTE

Two New Em Nishizuka Books

Two Em Nishizuka books new to AkaTako (actually published a couple years ago) have just been added! I've bought up all the remaining stock of these two so once they sell out, they can't be restocked. "Gray Sacred" is a bit more conceptual with an androgynous god theme and accompanying morbid poems (in Japanese). "Portrait 3" is full of caterpillar scarves, cute nurses, and botanical illustrations. BOTH are signed in black marker!

Hajime Sorayama New Books

The XL format exhibition catalog for GIGER + SORAYAMA is now in stock! The exhibition was a collaboration between Alessio Ascari and Shinji Nanzuka, traveling around Japan and showcasing these two very different yet somehow similar artists. This catalog was shipped all the way to Tokyo (printed in Italy) to receive Hajime Sorayama's signature and then shipped back to AkaTako. Just a few pieces available!

Also just arrived, the general public reissue of the "Robot Catalogue" which was originally issued during his 2020 exhibition "Sex Matters" at Nanzuka Underground. This new book has very slight differences from the limited edition release. The cover is metallic/reflective silver (limited was a plain gray). There is now an ISBN (limited had only QR code). But interior content is the same!

Suehiro Maruo Enamel Pins Arrival

Suehiro Maruo enamel pins have arrived and are now in stock at both EU and USA shipping locations. Actual photos of the pins and their backing cards have just been added. Hard enamel pins with double post backs, 1.75" (45mm) max. "Torture Garden" pin is gold metal with screen printed fine details. "Shoujo Tsubaki Midori" pin is black nickel metal.

Creation Project 2020 Masu

Last year's "Creation Project 2020" produced traditionally handcrafted cypress (hinoki) box masu with artwork screen-printed on all four sides. Often used for serving cold sake or measuring grain, cypress masu have a lovely natural scent and anti-bacterial properties. Each box was hand made one at a time in Gifu prefecture. They are expected to arrive to AkaTako around mid March 2021.
