There is a legend that a dying man was given a stone by a famous monk named Kobo Daishi that had "Saburo Emon is reborn" written on it. Nine months later, a child was born clutching that same stone. Ishite-ji, literally "stone hand temple" is now a popular place for people to make their own wishes, writing them on stones and tossing them onto piles in the hopes that they will be granted. |
