Self PortraitWho is Katie?

I spent one year and two months in Japan. I recently moved back to Miami and am trying to get back on my feet in the US after my amazing experience in Japan. I was born in Minnesota but actually grew up in the Caribbean. From four to six years old and again from twelve to sixteen years old, my family lived in Haiti. Those years shaped my personality and my life more than I can possibly tell you.

I've lived in a few different states and quite a few different cities. As of right now, I'm working in retail but am trying to find a job more in line with my degree and interests. In October of 2005, I received a Bachelor's of Science in business management with a minor in computer programming with a GPA of 4.0.

Despite my academic achievements and professional ambitions, I am unable to accept a position which sacrifices my personal integrity and sense of self-worth. I have a very strong desire to help others and to behave in a manner that I feel edifies the best qualities of human nature that are present in every one (sometimes deeply buried and other times just waiting for the waters to be stirred).

It is my sincere desire to work for a like-minded organization that will help me to help others on a grand scale. My creative problem solving abilities and joy for new experiences and new challenges would be an asset to any company - but I choose to use those resources to improve the quality of life for anyone I can.
